Remixing for Social Media
Facebook is a free social media website that allows people to post statuses, videos, pictures, and links of both their own creation and from the work of others. Facebook allows you to add people you know to your page, allowing them to see your content.
Pinterest is a free social media website that allows users to 'pin' pictures that link to outside websites. These pins are organized by the user into boards of various categories (recipes, animals, humor, etc). Users may browse or follow others' pages to see what they are pinning.
General characteristics of social media:
-
Audience: Younger generations
-
Hashtags
-
Concise writing
-
Sharing what others have done (websites, articles, interviews, pictures, art, research, etc.)

This is by no means an exhaustive list of social media sites that can be used for remixing purposes. Also consider Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Vines, etc.
